Onboarding: build your first bot
Use the three-step wizard to name your bot, add instructions, upload a logo, and publish a hosted link or embed script.
- A verified Raian account (see Create your account).
- For Starter/Pro, the default model is locked during onboarding; Advanced+ can change later in bot settings.
- Optional: a logo image (PNG/JPG, under 2MB) if you want a branded bot card.
1) Open onboarding
After signup, you're redirected to the onboarding wizard. If you skipped it, revisit /onboarding from the dashboard.
2) Step 1 — Basics
- Title: the bot name shown in cards and chat.
- Description: short summary to identify the bot.
- Greeting title/label: optional text at the top of chat.
- Logo: upload a PNG/JPG under 2MB.
Click Continue once title and description are set. Validation highlights missing fields.
3) Step 2 — Brain
- Model: Starter locks the default model; upgrade to change it later in bot settings.
- Instructions: describe the assistant's role, tone, constraints, and tool usage.
- Generate with AI: use the helper to draft instructions after 10+ words.
4) Create bot
Click Create bot. We generate the bot, default vector store, and slug. A success toast confirms creation.
5) Step 3 — Publish
- Direct link: hosted chat at
/chat/[slug]. - Embed snippet: script tag for the chat bubble.
- Copy/Embed buttons: copy the script or open the embed modal.
6) Finish onboarding
Click Go to bot workspace to open the bot's workspace (Display, Data, Tools, MCP Servers tabs) or Skip onboarding anytime.
- Logo upload fails: ensure PNG/JPG under 2MB; retry or remove the logo.
- Model locked: upgrade from Starter/Pro to change models in bot settings.
- Embed not showing: confirm you copied the script from Publish and placed it before </body>.
- Need to rerun onboarding: revisit /onboarding anytime.
