Upgrading & checkout

Use the Upgrade modal or Polar checkout to move between plans. Learn how Starter → paid and Pro → Advanced upgrades behave.

Where to upgrade

- From gated features (web search, Drive import, MCP) via the Upgrade CTA.

- Settings → Usage page upgrade banner.

- Billing page links to the billing portal for existing subscriptions.

Starter → Pro/Advanced (checkout)

- Upgrade modal opens Polar checkout.

- Choose monthly/yearly plan; after payment you're redirected back with checkout_id or customer_session_token in the URL.

- Usage page auto-refreshes to reflect the new plan and clears query params.

Pro → Advanced (subscription swap)

- Upgrade modal triggers a swap (prorated) without a new checkout.

- After swap, usage and limits update automatically.

Billing portal

- For active subscriptions (non-Enterprise), use Billing page to open the portal and manage payment methods/invoices.

- Enterprise billing is handled offline.

What updates after upgrade

- Plan limits: bots/files/storage/messages/tokens update to the new plan.

- Feature gates: web search, Drive imports, multi-store attach, MCP slots unlock per plan.

- Usage cards and Settings → Usage reflect the new entitlements after refresh.

Troubleshooting

- If checkout returns without updating, refresh the Usage page to finalize the plan change.

- Ensure the URL query params (checkout_id / customer_session_token) are present after returning from checkout; they are cleared automatically once applied.

- For billing failures, retry checkout or contact support.
